The Conference Committee of the School of Law plays a crucial role in organizing and overseeing academic conferences, seminars, and workshops that facilitate scholarly discussions and legal research.
The committee is responsible for planning events, coordinating with speakers, managing logistics, and ensuring meaningful engagement among participants.
It also works towards fostering an environment that encourages intellectual exchange and professional networking in the legal field.
An International Conference on “Emerging Issues in Constitutional Law” was convened at Birla Global University’s School of Law on November 26, 2024. The distinguished gathering comprised 185 participants and 12 eminent resource persons from national and international jurisdictions, conducted in a hybrid mode.
The proceedings commenced with the rendition of the University Anthem at 10:30 AM, under the stewardship of Dr. Mitashree Tripathy, Assistant Professor and Conference Committee Chairperson. The inaugural session was marked by Dean Prof. Sukanta Kumar Nanda’s welcome address, accompanied by a ceremonial recitation of the constitutional preamble.
The conference was graced by Honorable Justice SatrughanaPujahari, Chairperson of the Odisha Human Rights Commission and Former Judge of the Orissa High Court, who delivered an enlightening discourse on the evolution of constitutional rights and duties. The Presidential Address was rendered by Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, Vice-Chancellor, who expounded on the constitutional dimensions of privacy rights and digital freedoms in contemporary governance.
The inaugural session culminated with the unveiling of two scholarly works on constitutional jurisprudence authored by Mr. Prthivi Raj, followed by a vote of thanks presented by Ms. Ashna Siddiqui of the law faculty.The academic discourse continued through six meticulously organized technical sessions, coordinated by Mr. Swagat Dash, Mr. Yogendra Singh, and Mr. Prithivi Raj. These sessions, conducted across the Law and Management facilities, facilitated the presentation of 185 scholarly papers examining diverse constitutional law themes.
The Birla School of Law, Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with LawLearnizo, successfully hosted the Two-Day International Conference on Environment and Justice: A Tribute to Justice Kuldip Singh. Kyvalya Garikapati, Dean, Academics, KIIT School of Law, and the Inaugural Address by Prof. (Dr.) Ved Kumari, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Odisha, provided profound insights into legal reforms and gender justice. A thought-provoking panel discussion, moderated by Sri Swagat Dash, Assistant Professor, Birla Global University, featured Professor (Dr.) Paromita Chhatoraj (National Law University, Odisha), Prof. Madhubrata Mohanty (SoA University), Mrs. Kumudini Subudhi (Deputy Secretary, Government of Odisha), and Prof. Itishree Mishra (National Law University, Odisha), who shared their expertise on breaking barriers in leadership and policy.

Session 1: “Challenges to the Indian Constitution in the 21st Century”
Speaker: Prof. Sudhansu Ranjan Mohapatra, Professor and Head, Department of Law, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur
Prof. Mohapatra delivered an insightful lecture on the evolving challenges faced by the Indian Constitution in the 21st century. He emphasized the dynamic nature of constitutional law and the impact of social, political, and technological changes on governance and fundamental rights. Session 2: “Recent Trends in the Development of Quality Education”

In the second session, Prof. Rajib Padhee addressed the audience on the emerging trends in quality education and the evolving landscape of higher education in India. His lecture focused on the need for continuous innovation in pedagogy and assessment methods to meet global educational benchmarks. The session concluded with an interactive discussion on strategies to improve the quality of legal education and research.
Prof. Anand Prakash Mishra, Jindal Global Law School, delivered an insightful lecture on the future of legal education in India on 16 December 2024, highlighting the need for interdisciplinary learning, experiential training, and the integration of technology in legal studies. He emphasized the importance of fostering critical thinking, global exposure, and adaptability to emerging legal challenges.
