The Cultural Committee of Birla Global University is a vibrant and inclusive body that brings together students and faculty to celebrate diversity, foster creativity, and build a strong sense of community in campus. From Holi, Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Onam, to Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations, every occasion is marked with enthusiasm and inclusivity. Birla Global University joyously celebrated Holika Dahan and Holi on 14th and 15th March 2025 at the Volleyball Ground, embracing the spirit of unity, renewal, and cultural tradition. The festivities began with Holika Dahan on 14th March from 5:45 PM to 7:00 PM, where students and faculty gathered around the sacred bonfire, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The following morning, Holi celebrations brought vibrant energy to the campus from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Students from across schools joined together to celebrate with organic colors, dance, and music in a safe, inclusive environment. Emphasizing respect, safety, and environmental care, all participants followed the provided guidelines, ensuring a joyous and considerate celebration. The event concluded with a collective effort to maintain cleanliness. The two-day celebration strengthened the spirit of community at BGU and created joyful memories for all involved.
The festivities concluded with the observance of International Women’s Day on 10th March 2025. The program included interactive games, themed gift exchanges, and a university-wide social media campaign about “Accelerate Action” celebrating women’s achievements. Student representatives also conducted short talks and activities promoting gender equality and empowerment.
At Birla Global University the spectacular Annual Fest “SPECTRA 2025”, held on 19th, 20th, and 21st February 2025. The three-day extravaganza brought together students from all schools, celebrating talent, creativity, and community spirit through a vibrant lineup of events and performances. The fest commenced with great enthusiasm, featuring a range of intra mural competitions in music, dance, drama, fine arts, and literature, fostering healthy house-wise competition and showcasing the diverse skills of our students. An inhouse dance-drama was organised by the the Theater Club of BGU. Winners of these competitions were honored during the Intra Mural Prize Distribution Ceremony, applauding their dedication and achievements. A special moment of pride was the Student Felicitation Ceremony, where students were recognized for their outstanding contributions in academics, co-curriculars, and leadership roles, motivating others to strive for excellence. The cultural crescendo peaked on the first evening with an electrifying DJ Night by DJ Perisha, which energized the entire campus with pulsating music and dance. The excitement continued on the second evening with a live performance by renowned singer Arjun Kanungo, drawing a massive crowd and creating unforgettable memories. “SPECTRA 2025” truly reflected the energy, talent, and unity of the BGU community.
The Saraswati Puja celebration was held on 2nd February 2025 at 10:30 AM in the Activity Plaza. Students gathered in traditional attire to honor Goddess Saraswati and seek blessings for academic and personal growth. The event promoted unity, reverence, and the importance of learning, marked by discipline, devotion, and vibrant community participation.
Odia folk dance forms, such as Sambalpuri and Ghumura, were performed by students, vividly capturing the festive spirit of Nuakhai. The dancers, dressed in traditional attire, showcased the rich cultural heritage of Odisha, with rhythmic beats and lively movements that energized the crowd. Folk music performances by a trained team of KIIS, accompanied by traditional instruments brought the joy of Nuakhai to life.
On the vibrant afternoon of 30th January 2025, the Seminar Hall at BGU transformed into a stage for powerful storytelling, as students gathered for the much-anticipated Intra Mural Skit Competition. This event, organized under the Cultural Committee, was not just a performance— it was a celebration of expression, awareness, and teamwork. As the clock struck 4:00 PM, the hall buzzed with anticipation. Each of the four houses—Aryans, Titans, Olympians, and Spartans—brought forth their best teams, with members ranging between 5 and 10, ready to perform skits rooted in pressing social or current issues. Without the aid of microphones, the students relied solely on their voice projection, expressions, and stage presence—turning a challenge into a showcase of raw talent and energy.
On the bright morning of 26th January 2025, Birla Global University celebrated the 76th Republic Day of India with great pride, patriotic fervor, and community spirit. The celebration took place at the Flag Hoisting Area in front of the Admin Block, bringing together faculty, staff, and students to honor the Constitution and the values it upholds. By 8:45 AM, attendees had gathered, creating an atmosphere of reverence and anticipation. Student anchors extended a warm welcome, setting the tone for the day. At 8:55 AM, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni , escorted by the Head of Security, arrived as the Chief Guest of the event. The highlight of the ceremony was the unfurling of the National Flag at 9:00 AM, followed by the soulful rendition of the National Anthem, which echoed through the campus and stirred a sense of unity and national pride. Following the flag hoisting, the Vice Chancellor addressed the gathering, reminding everyone of the ideals enshrined in the Constitution and encouraging the youth to be the torchbearers of a progressive and inclusive India. The morning continued with a vibrant cultural program, celebrating India’s diversity and artistic spirit. This was followed by a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak on Cyber Security, presented by the NSS team. The street play, with its compelling message, raised awareness of the digital threats of modern times and the importance of cyber vigilance—blending patriotism with contemporary relevance. The event was not only a tribute to India’s democratic legacy but also a reflection of BGU’s commitment to holistic education, where values, culture, and awareness go hand-in-hand. The Republic Day celebration at BGU concluded on a high note—fostering a deeper sense of patriotism, unity, and social responsibility among all present.
The Intra Mural Photography Competition was held on 20th January at 2:00 PM in the Seminar Hall, offering a dynamic platform for students to display their creativity through the lens. Organized under the Cultural Committee , participants from all houses competed with enthusiasm. The theme was revealed an hour before the competition, ensuring spontaneity and originality. Photographers had one hour to capture raw, unedited photos, followed by a brief presentation explaining the story behind their shots. The event highlighted visual storytelling, technical skill, and house spirit, making it an engaging and memorable showcase of talent.
To celebrate the spirit of unity and new beginnings, the Cultural Committee organized a Lohri Bonfire on the Volleyball Ground in front of the student mess on 13th January 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM. The event marked the joyful observance of Lohri, Makar Sankranti, and Pongal, bringing together students from diverse backgrounds. Traditional music, dance, and the warmth of the bonfire created a festive ambiance, symbolizing gratitude for the past and hope for the new year. The celebration saw enthusiastic student participation, making it a memorable and culturally rich evening for all.
The Christmas Donation Drive 2024, jointly organized by the Cultural Conduit, BGU and the Pro Bono Club, School of Law, was successfully conducted from 16th to 22nd December 2024 at the Activity Plaza. Embracing the true spirit of Christmas, the drive encouraged students, faculty, and staff to contribute generously towards spreading warmth and joy during the festive season. Donations included warm clothes, blankets, toys, books, and stationery, all in good condition. Participation was heartfelt, with contributors signing a donation sheet, reinforcing the culture of accountability and compassion. The collected items were later distributed to the underprivileged by the Pro Bono Club, ensuring the festive joy reached those in need. Despite the ongoing examination season, the drive witnessed enthusiastic participation, reflecting BGU’s strong community spirit and commitment to social responsibility. The initiative not only made the holiday season meaningful for many but also inspired the university community to carry forward the message of kindness, sharing, and empathy.
In alignment with the UGC’s NEP 2020 initiatives, the university celebrated Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav from 11th to 16th December 2024. The event aimed to promote the richness and diversity of Indian languages. A university-wide signature campaign was conducted involving students and faculty to raise awareness of linguistic unity. Plans were also discussed for regional poetry recitations and book exhibitions.
The Intra Mural Slam Poetry Competition was held on Monday, 25th November 2024 at 4:45 PM in the Flag Hoisting Area, organized under the Cultural Committee . Students from all four houses—Aryans, Titans, Olympians, and Spartans—participated with great enthusiasm. Each house was represented by three participants who captivated the audience with powerful performances, creativity, and expressive poetry. The event celebrated the art of spoken word and provided a platform for emotional expression, critical thought, and literary talent.
The month of November was packed with both thematic and talent-driven events. On 11th November 2024, the Intra-Mural Solo and Group Dance Competitions were held at the BGU Seminar Hall. Organized on a house-wise basis, these performances showcased talent, coordination, unity and creativity, and were judged by an expert panel.
The 2nd Intra Mural Face Painting Competition was held on 22nd October 2024 from 3:30 PM onwards in C6, Design Block, under the Cultural Committee . The event witnessed vibrant house-wise participation, with students showcasing their artistic flair and creativity. It was a lively and colorful celebration of talent, teamwork, and expression through art.
To celebrate the festive spirit of Navaratri, the university hosted Garba Nights on 8th October 2024. Students dressed in traditional attire and participated in energetic garba and dandiya dance performances. The event fostered unity, cultural appreciation, and joyful participation among students.
On 1st October 2024, the 1st Intra Mural Solo and Group Singing Competition was held at the BGU Seminar Hall from 2:30 PM onwards to celebrate International Music Day. Organized under the Cultural Committee , the event saw enthusiastic house-wise participation. Students showcased their musical talents, promoting creativity, team spirit, and a shared love for music.
Birla Global University celebrated Nuakhai Bhetghat on 25th September 2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM in the Seminar Hall, embracing the spirit of western Odisha’s vibrant harvest festival. The event highlighted themes of prosperity, gratitude, and cultural heritage, bringing faculty, staff, and students together in celebration. Traditional music, dance, and rituals created a festive ambiance, showcasing the deep-rooted connection between agriculture and community life. The presence of esteemed colleagues enriched the occasion, making it a memorable cultural gathering. Organized by the Cultural Committee , the celebration fostered unity, pride, and appreciation for Odisha’s rich traditions.
Following this, Ganesh Chaturthi was observed from 6th to 9th September 2024. Students took the lead in planning and executing the multi-day celebration, which included installation of the idol, aarti sessions, cultural performances, and immersion rituals. The event highlighted the spirit of collaboration and devotion, drawing significant participation from the university community.
The cultural year began with a spiritually enriching celebration of Janmashtami on 27th August 2024. The campus was adorned with traditional decorations, and devotional performances were staged by students. The event was aimed at fostering spiritual values and reviving cultural traditions. It saw wholehearted participation from students across various schools, supported by faculty coordination.
Birla Global University celebrated the 78th Independence Day on 15th August 2024 with great enthusiasm at the Flag Hoisting Area. The event began at 8:30 AM with the hoisting of the National Flag by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. P.P. Mathur, followed by the National Anthem. He delivered an inspiring address highlighting the importance of freedom and youth responsibility. The programme featured a dance by an NSS volunteer, followed by a vibrant cultural performance by students. The celebration concluded with a plantation ceremony, symbolizing sustainability and growth. The event fostered a sense of patriotism and unity among all.
