Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kuanar is a distinguished academic leader and researcher, currently serving as Dean of the School of Applied Sciences and the School of Engineering & Technology at Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, along with an M.E. in Computer Engineering from Jadavpur University and a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Utkal University, bringing over twenty-seven years of rich experience in teaching, research, and academic administration.
Dr. Kuanar’s research expertise spans computer vision, pattern recognition, multimedia computing, and software metrics, and he has guided more than 10 M.Tech dissertations and is currently supervising multiple Ph.D. scholars, with 2 Doctoral Scholars already awarded under his mentorship. He has published extensively in leading SCI-indexed journals such as IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, and Elsevier’s Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation, and has presented his work at premier international forums including ICPR and ICAPR.
He is an active reviewer for reputed national and international journals, serves on technical program committees of various conferences, and has chaired sessions and organized Faculty Development Programs and Short-Term Training Programs. A self-motivated and forward-looking academic leader, Dr. Kuanar is a member of professional bodies such as IEEE, ISTE, and CSI, and is widely recognized for his initiatives in advancing research culture and fostering academic excellence in his institution.
