Birla Global University is a self-financed private unitary University and has been established by the enactment of Birla Global University Odisha Act, 2015 with its main campus spread over an area of nearly 30 acres of land situated at IDCO Plot No.2, Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar. The University has been established with a goal to be the best destination for aspiring new-gen managers. It is committed to redefine ‘quality’ in management education with state of the art facilities, best of the infrastructure and finest faculty. Presently, the University operates with five schools i.e.

1. Birla School of Management offering Ph.D, MBA, BBA (Honours), BBA (Business Analytics), BBA (Digital Marketing)

2. Birla School of Communication offering MA in Journalism & Mass Communication (MAJMC) and BA in Journalism & Mass Communication (BAJMC) (Honours)

3. Birla School of Commerce offering M.Com & B.Com (Honours)

4. Birla School of Social Sciences & Humanities offering Ph.D., MA in Economics & BA Economics (Honours)

5. Birla School of Law offering BBA.LLB (Honours)

The guiding principle of Admissions at BGU has always been one that facilitates the grooming of ethical global business leaders who are committed to inclusive growth and sustainability.

Admission Policy of the University is based on the following principles:

1. To ensure the admission of students with academic competencies and potentialities of high quality. University ensures Merit based selection process for admissions to the different courses.

2. To maintain regional, professional and gender diversity of the students for Admissions. University welcomes students from all the continents of the globe. Additional relaxation of 5% in marks for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, backward classes, women and differently-abled persons.

3. To ensure transparency in the selection process so that each student applying for admission to BGU will have a fair and equal chance of getting selected based on his/her merit.

Selecting aspirants for admissions to its various programs every year has been oriented towards achieving a right mix in the class so as to enhance the total learning experience both within and outside the class. Admission efforts seek to achieve a ‘class- diversity’ which heightens peer group learning.

Reservation Policy
As mentioned in the Birla Global University Odisha Act 2015, the University provides reservation of fifty percent for the students of Odisha subject to satisfying the minimum qualifying standard for admission tests and interviews.


Refund Policy
University follows UGC guidelines in regard to refund of fee.


Admission Procedure
Minimum Eligibility & Selection Criteria for Admission under different schools of Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar

BIRLA SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT

Ph.D. Program
Minimum Eligibility:

Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

RELAXATION TO (a) ABOVE
A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layer) /Differently- abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time or for those candidates who had obtained their Master Degree prior to 19th September 1991. The relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including grace mark procedure.

MBA
Minimum Eligibility

1. Candidate should have good academic record with minimum 50% Marks (or equivalent CGPA) marks in his/her Graduation. Candidates appearing for their final year graduation examination must submit their mark sheet immediately on the receipt of the same.

Final Selection Criteria:
The applicant to the programme is selected on the basis of BGU Selection process based on past academic performance in 10th, 12th, and graduation; CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT score; GDPI or Comprehensive PI written ability test (WAT). Suitable weightages for Work Experience, Academic & Regional Background, and Professional Qualification etc. are also given.

BBA (Hons.) / BBA Business Analytics / BBA Digital Marketing
Minimum Eligibility

A. The Candidate should have passed 10+2 with Minimum 50% or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing in final examinations can also apply.

Selection Criteria
B. Students would be admitted to the programme on the basis of merit (Percentage of marks secured in 10th and 10+2/12th Board Examination).
C. Candidate may also be called for Personal Interview if so desired by the University.

BIRLA SCHOOL OF COMMERCE

M.Com
Minimum Eligibility
A. Candidate should have good academic record and scored minimum 50% marks his/her Graduation from a recognized university. Candidates appearing for their final year graduation examination must submit their mark sheet immediately on the receipt of the same.

Selection Criteria
B. Students would be admitted to the programme on the basis of merit (Percentage of marks secured in 10th, 12th and Graduation) and also their performance in the Personal Interview.

B.Com (Hons.)
Minimum Eligibility
A. The Candidate should have passed 10+2 with Minimum 50% or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing in final examinations can also apply.

Selection Criteria
B. Students would be admitted to the programme on the basis of merit( Percentage of marks secured in 10th, 10+2/12th Board Examination).
C. Candidate may also be called for Personal Interview, if so desired by the University.

BIRLA SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION

MAJMC
Minimum Eligibility

A. Any Graduate from a recognized university. Candidates appearing in final examinations can also apply, however they must submit their final year graduation mark sheet immediately on the receipt of the same.
Selection Criteria

B. Students satisfying minimum eligibility would be admitted to the programme based on their performance in the Personal Interview.

BAJMC (Hons.)

Minimum Eligibility

A. The Candidate should have passed 10+2 from Indian School System. Candidates appearing in final examinations can also apply.

Selection Criteria
B. Students would be admitted to the programme on satisfying minimum eligibility criteria.
C. Candidate may also be called for Personal Interview if so desired by the University.

SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS


Ph.D. Programme

Minimum Eligibility

BIRLA SCHOOL OF LAW

BBALLB

Minimum marks in qualifying examination for admission: Bar Council of India may from time to time, stipulate the minimum percentage of marks not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category applicants,42% for OBC category and 40% of the total marks in case of SC and ST applicants, to be obtained for the qualifying examination, such as +2 examination in case of Integrated Five Years’ course or Degree course in any discipline for Three years’ LLB course, for the purpose of applying for and getting admitted into a law Degree Program of any recognized University in either of the streams.

2. Provided that such a minimum qualifying marks shall not automatically entitle a person to get admission into an institution but only shall entitle the person concerned to fulfil other institutional criteria notified by the institution concerned or by the government concerned from time to time to apply for admission."

* For admission into BBA-LLB programme of BGU Bhubaneswar applicant must have a valid CLAT/AILET/XLET / BGU Admission Test score.

Steps to be followed for Admission to different courses of Birla Global University

Step-1
Students aspiring to take admission to BGU should fill up online application form by visiting University website: www.bgu.ac.in

Step-2 Complete filled- up application form can be submitted online by payment of requisite application fee for respective courses

Step-3 Eligible candidate will be contacted for the further process of Admission to different courses.

Step-4 Provisional admission offer letter will be issued to the selected candidates.

Step-5 Admission process will be completed on verification and submission of documents and payment of fee.
