Brief Profile

Dr. Brajendra Kumar Das, Registrar and Professor Banking and Finance at the Birla Global University (BGU), Bhubaneswar, is a Ph.D, in Economics, LL.B. and Diploma in Business Management. He is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.

Before the establishment of BGU he joined BIMTECH Greater Noida in 2009 as Professor and Advisor and subsequently joined as Director Birla Global Institute Bhubaneswar. Prior to this, he was General Manager of a leading Public Sector Bank of India. He worked as GM New Delhi Region for more than 4 years looking after the States of Delhi, UP, Uttarakhand, Jammu &Kashmir and a part of Haryana. As GM Operation, he was in charge of the States of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and a part of Maharashtra. He was a Director in the Board of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation. He was the Chairman of State Level Export Promotion Committee for Odisha and Himachal Pradesh for 2 years. He was also a member of the High Powered Committee (HPC) constituted by the Government of India for banking development plan for the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He was appointed by the Govt. of India as Chairman of Regional Rural Bank (RRB) for 3 years and also headed the District Industries Centre (DIC), Govt. of Odisha, for 2 years and looked after the planning and implementation of various central and state programs like Entrepreneur Development Programs (EDP), Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP), Prime Minister Rojgar Yojana (PMRY) and promotion of MSME. He worked as Chairman of the Recruitment Board for recruitment of probationary officers in the public sector banks in Odisha for three years.

Dr Das worked with Prof Yunus, the Nobel laureate, in Bangladesh Grameen Bank under a UNDP project.

He has been instrumental in setting up the Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar.
