Brief Profile

Dr. Subhransu Sekhar Acharya has been engaged in the development of finance sector since last 30 years in core areas of Livelihood financing, Innovation and Incubation, Access to Finance, Sustainable Finance and Development issues, Entrepreneurship, Financial literacy and Women empowerment, Financing of MSME sector, Mentoring Start-ups, Risk Management, Business Planning and budgeting, etc.

Dr.Acharya is currently serving as a Director on the Boards of –

• India SME Technology Services Ltd. ( A Technology Co. for MSMEs)
• National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation
• Delhi Finance Corporation

• Educational Qualifications
  
  • Ph.D. in Management, MBA, M.Sc.
  • Studied Environment Management & Sustainable Development in the University of Bradford
  • Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance ( CAIIB )
• Experience
  

  Dr. Acharya has experience of heading the SIDBI – MSME International Training Institute at Bhubaneswar, engaged in capacity-building of stakeholders in the entire MSME eco-system including Bankers, MFIs, Entrepreneurs, Officers of SIDBI in a variety of issues, such as, Financial Inclusion, Micro Finance appraisal and operations, Risk management, etc. He had also headed the Intensive Financial Inclusion Project supported by DFID, U.K. and worked in SIDBI Foundation for Micro-credit for a resilient MF sector towards inclusion and Equality.

• International Exposure
  
  • Invited by World Bank to present new approaches to MSME financing and development by SIDBI
  • Participated in International Conference on SME Competitiveness Challenges in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
  • Worked for British Foreign Office sponsored “Chevening Fellowship” for Environment and Sustainable Development -2001 : carried out work to establish the benefits of adopting environment-friendly technology by SMEs of UK and India
