Birla School of Applied Sciences, Birla Global University (BGU) has celebrated National Science Day on February 28th, 2024, bringing together scientists, researchers, educators, students, and enthusiasts to commemorate the spirit of scientific inquiry and discovery. Chief Guest Prof. L. Singh (former Professor of Physics, Utkal University) and Guest of Honour Prof. Luna Samanta (Professor of Zoology and Chairperson, PG Council Ravenshaw University) has graced the occasion. Prop L P Singh focussed on the Science and technology in his speech. He described that technology has been there since ancient by giving the example of konark temple and the technology behind that. Prof. Luna Samanta delivered an eye opening speech how science is changing the world. The session continued with the address of Prof. P.P. Mathur, Vice-Chancellor of BGU on technology. He generalized technology as science and encourage the students to get involve in science. Prof. B. K. Das, Registrar of BGU, then addressed the audience with enlighten words on science and its advancements. Dr. Bandita Sahu, convener of the event delivered the welcome address and Dr. Manaswini Jena (Co-convener) proposed vote of thanks. Prop P. P. Mathur addressed the gathering and encouraged the young people to think science as a technology and get involved in this technology.
The event was concluded with the felicitation of participants, the awarding of the Hackathon winner (Conducted by School of Applied Sciences). Deans from different schools, HoDs, Faculty members, staff and students were present there for the celebration. The event served as a valuable platform for scientists, researchers, educators, and students to connect, gain insights into diversified field of science and technology. Birla Global University acknowledges the contributions of all participants and organizers for making the event a grand success.
