National Sports Day

On August 29th, the BGU Sports Committee skilfully organized a vibrant series of events to celebrate National Sports Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. This day, which honours the spirit of sportsmanship and athletic excellence, saw BGU come alive with a full day of sporting challenges, friendly competition, and collective celebration.

Intramural Sports Event: Marathon

The first intramural sports event of the academic year 2024-25, a marathon, was held at BGU on 11th September 2024. The event, which marked the beginning of the much-anticipated intramural sports competitions, saw enthusiastic participation from all four houses: Spartans, Titans, Olympians, and Aryans. The marathon began at 6:15 AM from the BGU Main Gate and concluded at 7:30 AM in front of the BGU Student Mess, covering a challenging yet exciting route across the campus. The event was inaugurated by our esteemed Vice- Chancellor, Dr. P.P. Mathur, who flagged off the race, motivating the participants to give their best.

Intramural Sports Event at BGU: Carom and Chess

On 13/9/2024, BGU hosted its second intramural sports event as part of its ongoing series of inter-house competitions. This time, the games of Chess and Carom took centre stage, with students competing in both C6 and C5 in the Design Block. All four houses—Aryans, Spartans, Titans, and Olympians—enthusiastically participated, fielding both girls’ and boys’ teams.

Intramural Sports Event at BGU-Table Tennis

The 3rd event of the BGU Intramural Sports series, the Table Tennis matches, was held on 19th and 20th September 2024, in the university’s indoor facility. This two-day event saw high energy and spirited participation from all four houses—Spartans, Aryans, Titans, and Olympians—across both the boys’ and girls’ divisions. The competition included both singles and doubles match, offering a platform for individual skill and team coordination.


Intramural Sports Event, Basketball

The fourth intramural sports event of 2024 at BGU, focusing on Basketball, was held on the 3rd and 4th of October. The event witnessed high participation and intense competition, with all four houses – Olympians, Aryans, Spartans, and Titans – competing in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. The matches were played in a lively and supportive atmosphere, with enthusiastic cheers from fellow housemates and students adding to the vibrant energy of the event.

Intramural Tournament – Volleyball

The BGU Sports Committee successfully organized the sixth intramural tournament on 21st and 22nd October 2024, featuring exciting Volleyball matches between the four houses – Aryans, Titans, Olympians, and Spartans. Held at the BGU Volleyball Court, the tournament provided a platform for athletes to demonstrate their physical prowess, teamwork, and determination, drawing enthusiastic participation and spectatorship from across the campus.

The 8th Intramural Sports event at Birla Global University, held on November 7th, brought together students, faculty, and staff for an electrifying day of competition. This year’s event, with the Tug of War as the centrepiece, saw four house teams—Aryans, Olympians, Spartans, and Titans—competing with unparalleled energy on the BGU football ground.

Participants from both boys’ and girls’ teams fought fiercely to uphold the pride of their houses and claim the prestigious top positions.


Intramural Sports E-Sport BGMI Solo Erangel Match

The 7th Intramural Sports Event at Birla Global University (BGU), held on 4th November, delivered an exciting day of competition as participants from the four houses—Aryans, Titans, Olympians, and Spartans—came together to showcase their skills. Among the various activities, the E-Sport BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) Solo Erangel Match was a major highlight, generating great excitement and anticipation. This popular event has become a staple in BGU’s intramural sports, demonstrating how E-Sports has cemented its place alongside traditional athletic competitions. The BGMI solo match on Erangel provided players with an engaging and challenging arena where strategy, skill, and quick reflexes were put to the test.

The 10th Intramural Sports event at Birla Global University was a spectacular showcase of talent, sportsmanship, and house spirit. Held on 22nd and 23rd November, the Badminton Tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from all four houses—Aryans, Titans, Olympians, and Spartans. The event served as a platform for students to display their athletic skills, teamwork, and resilience in a competitive yet spirited environment.

The BGU Cricket Ground was abuzz with energy and enthusiasm on the 17th and 18th of January 2025, as the four house teams—Olympians, Aryans, Titans, and Spartans— locked horns in the much-awaited Intramural Cricket Tournament. With the perfect blend of sunny weather, roaring spectators, and high-octane matches, the two-day event was a true celebration of sportsmanship and teamwork.

Four houses – Titans, Olympians, Spartans, and Aryans – competed fiercely over two days of high-energy matches. The Sports Committee of Birla Global University is delighted to announce of ATOS, our Inter-University Annual Sports Fest, a three-day extravaganza of sportsmanship, competition, and camaraderie. The name ATOS draws inspiration from the legendary warriors who symbolize strength, determination, and excellence. These qualities are embodied by our university’s four houses: ARYANS TITANS OLYMPIANS SPARTANS. ATOS is more than just a sports fest; it is a platform to push your limits, build meaningful connections, and create memories that last a lifetime. From thrilling competitions and fitness challenges to engaging recreational activities, ATOS offers something for everyone—whether you’re a dedicated athlete, a fitness enthusiast, or someone looking for an entertaining way to spend the day. ATOS 2024-25

The Boxing Match for the Middle Weight and Light Weight categories was conducted at the Flag Hoisting Area of Birla Global University on 19th and 20th November 2024. The event was organized with the objective of promoting physical fitness, competitive spirit, and student engagement in sports activities. The programme commenced at 5:30 PM on both days and was attended by students, faculty members, and officials from various schools of the University. A total of eight participants four from each weight category took part in the competition. The participants represented the School of Management, School of Law, School of Communication, and the School of Commerce. Red Bull sponsored the event, contributing to the overall energy and vibrancy of the competition.

On 19th November 2024, preliminary matches were held among all eight participants to determine the semi-finalists. The semi-final and final rounds were conducted on 20th November 2024. The bouts were officiated by Mr. Kanti Ranjan Swain, who supervised the event and ensured that all matches were conducted in accordance with professional boxing guidelines. His role in maintaining fairness, safety protocols, and discipline throughout the event was commendable.

In the Middle Weight category, Mr. Sourav Ray from MBA secured the first position, while the runner-up position was awarded to Mr. Nirlipta Parida, also from MBA. In the Light Weight category, the winner was Mr. Aritro Dutta from MAJMC, followed by Mr. Kunal Kumar Dalei from B.Com as the runner-up. All the participants demonstrated commitment, sportsmanship, and high levels of competitive performance throughout the matches.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on 20th November 2024 in the presence of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Birla Global University. The Vice Chancellor awarded medals and certificates to all winners, runners-up, and participants. His words of encouragement added value to the occasion and motivated the students to continue their involvement in sports and extracurricular activities.

The event concluded successfully with positive feedback from participants and spectators. The support from Red Bull and the coordinated efforts of the organizing committee, volunteers, and faculty members contributed significantly to the smooth and efficient conduct of the event. Overall, the Boxing Match 2024 served as an excellent platform for showcasing student talent, fostering healthy competition, and reinforcing the University’s commitment to promoting holistic student development.
