Relevance of Commerce Education: Post- Pandemic

Birla School of Commerce, Birla Global University had organised a webinar on “Relevance of Commerce Education: Post- Pandemic” on 03.07.2021. The resource persons for the webinar were Prof. (Dr.) Alka Singh, Dean, Department of Commerce & Economics, Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, U. P. and CMA Thomas Mathew, Financial Consultant and MD, Odisha Capital Market and Enterprise.

Prof. Dr Samson Moharana, Dean, Birla School of Commerce, Birla Global University, delivered the welcome address for the occasion. He highlighted how commerce had undergone a structural transformation from a traditional course to one of the popular career choices.

Prof. Dr Alka Singh addressed the importance of commerce as a discipline in the economy and how it has kept pace with the changing business environment. She articulated the need for skilled based education under the NEP 2020.

CMA Thomas Mathews deliberated on the need to foster new types of skills, that combines technical skills, soft skills, and creativity. He also discussed various traditional as well as new professional opportunities available for a commerce graduate in national as well global contexts.

The session was moderated and concluded by Ms Neha Joshi, Assistant Professor, Birla School of Commerce, Birla Global University.
